EAA AIRVENTURE
The World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration and one of the largest annual gatherings of aviation enthusiasts in the world. Hosted by the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), it draws hundreds of thousands of visitors and thousands of aircraft to Wittman Regional Airport for a week of thrilling aerial displays, airshows, diverse aircraft exhibits from vintage warbirds to cutting‑edge designs, hands‑on workshops, educational programs, and community events for all ages.
MILWAUKEE AIR AND WATER SHOW
A major free, family‑friendly summer event on the Lake Michigan lakefront that brings thrilling aerial and water‑based performances to thousands of spectators. Celebrating aviation, maritime acts, and community spirit, the show features high‑flying aerobatics, dynamic water demonstrations, food and vendor exhibits, and spectacular entertainment that honors veterans and inspires aviation fans of all ages.
MITCHELL AIRPORT PARK
A fun, accessible outdoor space for kids with play structures, swings, and educational aviation elements that reflect its location near Mitchell International Airport, where visitors can also enjoy watching planes. Designed with inclusive features and an airport‑inspired theme, the playground enhances community recreation and celebrates flight in a family‑friendly setting.
MITCHELL GALLERY OF FLIGHT
The Mitchell Gallery of Flight is a nonprofit aviation museum at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport that preserves and shares southeast Wisconsin’s flight heritage through engaging displays, artifacts, and educational exhibits for visitors of all ages. Its volunteer‑run museum offers free admission and highlights local aviation history while inspiring present and future generations.
FOOD TRUCK FRIDAYS
Waukesha County Airport hosts Food Truck Fridays, a community event that welcomes aviation enthusiasts and food lovers alike. Each gathering features a rotating lineup of food vendors and cuisines, offering something for everyone while airplanes soar overhead. Proceeds from the event support local nonprofit organizations.
WAUKESHA COUNTY AIRPORT MUSEUM
Explore the rich history of Crites Field, beginning in 1938, including a detailed model of the first plane to land in Waukesha County in 1912. The museum also features the broken propeller from Dean Crites’ famous no-engine landing of a single-engine aircraft—an iconic moment in local aviation history.
