Waukesha County Airport has taken the lead in an exciting initiative to inspire the next generation of aviation enthusiasts and professionals. By spearheading the Youth in Aviation Task Force in August of 2023, the airport aims to provide students in southeastern Wisconsin with unparalleled opportunities to explore the dynamic world of aerospace. This program is tailored to nurture curiosity, foster a love for aviation, and pave a clear path for students aspiring to become part of the Wisconsin Aerospace Crew—a community of future pilots, engineers, air traffic controllers, and other aviation experts.
The Youth in Aviation program is built on a foundation of hands-on experiences, mentorship, and education. Participants can engage in activities such as building model aircraft, visiting hangars, and piloting simulators, offering them a real-world glimpse into the intricacies of the aviation industry. Collaborations with local schools, aviation organizations, and industry leaders ensure that students gain access to diverse perspectives and resources. By connecting youth with seasoned professionals, the program provides guidance and inspiration, encouraging participants to dream big and set ambitious goals within the aerospace field.
As part of this initiative, Waukesha County Airport is also working to emphasize the importance of aviation as a vital and evolving industry. Every quarter students are encouraged to attend The Skybound Summit at the Waukesha County Airport to talk about aviation and learn peer-to-peer how others just like you are starting their journey in the aviation industry.
